Empower Therapies provide counselling and psychotherapy services which are easily accessible and tailored to meet the needs of our clients.
What is Counselling and Psychotherapy?
Counselling and psychotherapy are talking therapies that provide a safe and confidential space where you can talk about issues and problems in your life that you might need support with.
The terms counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably and are always presented with a confidential and contractual relationship between the therapist and the client. However, counselling can sometimes be referred to as short term and psychotherapy as deeper and longer-term work (over a year).
We also offer one off sessions for individuals or couples to provide you with some information and strategies around specific topics. These might include: learning how to talk to one another, coping with conflict, anxiety, stress, understanding affairs and more. These sessions are tailored to individual needs.
The terms and aims of your contract will be discussed with the therapist at your first appointment but this will be reviewed throughout to ensure we are taking into account that your needs and circumstances may change. At Empower Therapies, we view therapy as a personal process and the length of the work is very much dependent on what you want from it and what you bring to the sessions.
It is vital that you feel comfortable and safe in your therapy sessions, so choosing the right therapist is incredibly important. As such, Empower Therapies are happy to discuss your requirements over the telephone in a short triage before booking. This will help you get an understanding of how we may be able to help and whether our approach suits what you’re looking for.
